Syracuse, N.Y. - The Dewitt doctor convicted of killing his wife is now a free man.
An appellate court granted the once prominent OB/GYN a new trial for the 2012 murder of his wife Leslie. The 3-2 decision ruled that jury misconduct should have resulted in a mistrial.
Neulander is free on a million dollars bail and must submit to GPS monitoring, surrender his passport, and can not leave Onondaga County with a judge's approval.
District Attorney Bill Fitzpatrick says he is considering whether to appeal that court decision to the state's highest judicial body. A court date is scheduled for Oct. 9 to determine whether or not the State Court of Appeals will hear the case. If the case is not going to be heard, then a new murder trial will be scheduled.
