Concrete Falls From Geddes Street Railroad Bridge

Syracuse, N.Y. - The investigation is underway into what caused concrete to fall from the Geddes Street railroad bridge.

The debris was discovered around 10:15 p.m. Thursday. No one was hurt.

The stretch of Geddes Street between Fayette Street and Erie Boulevard is closed indefinitely.

A preliminary inspection found no additional concrete falling from the structure. However, Mayor Ben Walsh is asking the New York, Susquehanna, and Western Railway to stop rail service in the area until the bridge can be inspected thoroughly.

Last summer concrete fell near Armory Square from another rail bridge owned by the same railway.
