Two teenagers from Oneida County are facing charges after an incident on Friday (April 17) where a full beer can was thrown at a state trooper's car, leading to a high-speed chase. The New York State Police reported that the event occurred around 10:30 p.m. on State Route 13 when a beer can was thrown from an SUV, denting the hood of the police vehicle.
When the trooper activated emergency lights and sirens to stop the SUV, the driver sped away, reaching speeds of up to 75 mph in a 40 mph zone as they headed into the Village of Camden. The pursuit concluded near Preston Street, where police detained four adults and two juveniles in the vehicle.
Authorities identified Gabriel Clark, 18, from Taberg, as the individual who threw the beer can, while Lillyana Capoccetta, 18, from Rome, was identified as the driver. According to the Camden Police Department, Clark faces charges including criminal mischief, unlawful possession of alcohol under 21, and littering on a highway. Capoccetta has been charged with unlawfully fleeing a police officer, speeding, reckless driving, and failing to obey a police officer, among other offenses.
The damage to the police cruiser is estimated to exceed $250. The Camden Police Department released Capoccetta's mugshot, while the New York State Police declined to release the names of the suspects due to their ages.
