A Syracuse man, Christopher L. Smith, is facing multiple charges following a significant drug bust in Syracuse. On Friday (April 17), the New York State Police, along with the Violent Gang and Narcotics Enforcement Team (VGNET), concluded a month-long investigation that led to the arrest of Smith. Authorities executed search warrants at 100 South Edwards Avenue, Apartment 1, where they discovered over 154 grams of fentanyl, more than 115 grams of crack cocaine, and approximately $14,768 in cash, along with various packaging materials.

Smith, 38, was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (fentanyl and crack cocaine) with the intent to sell, as well as second-degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia. Following his arraignment, he was remanded to the Onondaga County Justice Center without bail, where he remains in custody.

According to CNY Central, the operation is part of ongoing efforts to combat narcotics trafficking in central New York. The police's Violent Gang and Narcotics Enforcement Team played a crucial role in the investigation, which is still ongoing.

WSYR-TV reports that Smith's arrest is expected to have a significant impact on local drug trafficking activities. The police's continued efforts aim to protect communities from the dangers associated with illegal narcotics.
