Motorists traveling on Interstate 690 in Geddes should prepare for delays today (Tuesday, April 14). According to the New York State Department of Transportation, the eastbound lanes will be reduced to one lane between Exit 9 (State Fair Boulevard/Lakeland) and Exit 11 (State Route 297/Fairgrounds) from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Crews will be conducting overhead sign work, and each rolling closure is expected to last between five and 10 minutes. The work is part of a larger project to replace overhead sign structures.
Drivers are advised to slow down and exercise caution in the work zones, as fines for speeding are doubled in these areas. Multiple violations could lead to a suspended license.
The construction schedule is weather-dependent, and changes may occur. For the latest updates on road conditions, motorists can visit 511ny.org.
