A 30-year-old man named Bay Rosario was arrested following an explosion at a multi-tenant office building on Oak Street in Syracuse on Friday (April 10). Authorities allege that Rosario placed an explosive device inside a cupcake vending machine, causing a blast that rocked the building. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

According to the Onondaga County District Attorney's Office, Rosario faces multiple charges, including first-degree arson. The explosion occurred around 1:42 p.m., prompting a massive response from police and fire crews, including a bomb squad and mobile command center.

The vending machine, owned by Kadesha Carter of Cupcakes R Me, was significantly damaged. Carter, who had a previous relationship with Rosario, claimed he had previously vandalized her property. She shared photos of the destroyed machine on Facebook.

Witnesses reported seeing a man dressed in black place something in the machine before fleeing. Despite the severity of the explosion, there was no significant fire or smoke damage beyond the lobby area.

Rosario remains in custody at the Onondaga County Justice Center jail without bond. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities urge anyone with information to contact the Syracuse Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division at (315) 442-5222.
