In Morrisville, Delos Thurston, a postmaster in Madison County, has admitted to stealing over $100,000 through fraudulent money orders. On Tuesday (April 7), Thurston pleaded guilty to issuing nearly 180 money orders to himself between April 2025 and January 2026, as part of a plea agreement with federal prosecutors.

Money orders, which are typically used to provide refunds to customers from Postal Service funds, were instead used by Thurston for personal gain. According to the plea agreement, he issued 179 money orders without payment, totaling $118,088.

Thurston, 27, has agreed to pay restitution to the Postal Service. He is scheduled to be sentenced on August 6.
