Green Lakes State Park in Fayetteville is hosting its annual Fishstock event today (Friday, April 3). The event, running from 10 a.m. until noon, invites participants to adopt and release a rainbow trout into the lake for the season. Fishstock is a free event, and attendees are encouraged to bring nonperishable food items to donate to the Food Bank of Central New York.
Participants will receive a bucket from Carpenter's Brook Fish Hatchery containing their own rainbow trout. They are asked to release the fish using the provided bucket and to avoid handling the fish directly. The event also features an open Education Center, yard games on the beach, and a craft station in the Old Admin Building. A Bull & Bear food truck will be available on the east side of the beach for those wishing to purchase food.
Parking is accessible via the Rt. 290 entrance, where food bank staff will collect donations and distribute goodie bags to each car. Each goodie bag contains a raffle ticket, which can be turned in at the Manlius Police booth for a chance to win a fishing-themed prize package. The raffle drawing will take place at 11:30 a.m., and winners do not need to be present to claim their prize.
