Rock icon Melissa Etheridge is set to perform at the Great New York State Fair on Friday (August 28), bringing her celebrated hits and new music to Syracuse. The singer-songwriter will take the Suburban Park Stage at 8 p.m., and the concert is included with fair admission, making it accessible to all attendees. The fair runs from Wednesday (August 26) through Labor Day, Monday (September 7).
According to the official announcement, Etheridge’s show is part of the Suburban Park evening concert series. She joins a lineup featuring artists like Sean Paul, Ashanti, ZZ Top, and Trace Adkins. This year, the fair will present 41 national recording acts across its stages.
Etheridge, a two-time Grammy winner and Academy Award recipient, has just released her seventeenth studio album, RISE. Her performance also coincides with her first nomination for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, highlighting a career that has endured for decades and influenced generations. She is known for songs such as “Come to My Window,” “I’m the Only One,” and “I Want to Come Over.”
Fair Director Julie LaFave said, "Melissa Etheridge is a rock icon who commands the stage. Giving our fairgoers the opportunity to see legends of music perform as part of our concert series is one of the greatest joys of working at The Fair. We can’t wait to see so many happy fans rocking out to her music!"
Admission to the fair is $8 for adults, while children under 12 and seniors aged sixty-five and older can enter for free. Tickets will be available later in the summer. The New York State Fair is recognized as one of the most affordable and oldest fairs in the nation, offering daily entertainment as part of its mission to showcase the best of New York and boost the Central New York economy through tourism.
