Syracuse residents will have an opportunity to learn about and discuss the future of the South Avenue Bridge at a public meeting tonight, Tuesday (March 24), at the Seals Community Center at Kirk Park. The meeting, organized by the City of Syracuse Department of Engineering, is scheduled for 7–8 p.m. and will address planned rehabilitation efforts for the bridge, which spans Onondaga Creek.

According to the City of Syracuse Department of Engineering, proposed upgrades include replacing bridge bearings and pedestals, rebuilding sidewalks and curbs, repairing masonry joints and concrete supports, sealing the bridge deck, and painting the existing girders. Mayor Sharon Owens said these improvements are aimed at increasing safety for both drivers and pedestrians and ensuring the bridge serves the community well into the future. Residents are encouraged to attend to share their feedback and learn more about the project.

For those unable to attend in person, the city is accepting online comments about the project through April 10. Additional details, including comment submission and meeting information, are available through the city's official event listing at the Public Meeting on South Avenue Bridge Rehabilitation page.
