The New York State Department of Transportation is alerting drivers to upcoming lane closures on Interstate 81 in Syracuse. Starting Monday (March 9), the highway will be reduced to one lane northbound between Exit 17 and Exit 18, and southbound between Exit 18 and Exit 17. These closures are part of the ongoing I-81 Viaduct Project.

Construction crews will be working in these areas from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on weekdays. The lane reductions are scheduled to continue until Tuesday, March 31, as reported by Syracuse.com. The work schedule is subject to change based on weather conditions.

Drivers are advised to plan for potential delays and consider alternate routes if possible. The I-81 Viaduct Project aims to improve infrastructure and traffic flow in the area. The state DOT appreciates the public's patience and cooperation during this time.
