The Syracuse Department of Public Works (DPW) is actively seeking to fill over 30 job openings. The positions available include roles such as sewer maintenance worker, tire service mechanic, and motor equipment operator. According to CNY Central, First Deputy Commissioner Ann Fordock emphasized that the department will provide training for those without prior experience, including CDL training for laborers.

The city is hosting a career fair on Thursday (February 26) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at CNY Works, located at 960 James Street. Representatives from the Office of Human Resources and other city departments will be present to review resumes and discuss the hiring process. Mayor Sharon F. Owens highlighted the importance of investing in the workforce to serve the community, noting that the city is looking for passionate individuals to join their team of civil servants.

The city is particularly focused on recruiting CDL drivers, a critical component of city services. "Our CDL drivers are the foundation of city services," said Fordock, as reported by Public Now. The positions requiring a CDL include water maintenance workers, motor equipment operators, and maintenance workers.

Interested applicants can find more information and apply for open positions on the city's official website. The city encourages women and minority applicants to apply and notes that residency will be required within six months of hire.
