A 70-year-old man lost his life in a single-vehicle crash in Kirkland on Wednesday morning. Oneida County Sheriff's Office has identified the victim as Salvatore Noti.
According to a news release from the Oneida County Sheriff's Office, the accident occurred around 10:20 a.m. on January 28. Noti was driving a 2025 Nissan Rogue northbound on Bristol Road when he lost control of the vehicle.
Deputies report that the SUV nearly struck a mailbox on the eastern shoulder before crossing into the southbound lane. The vehicle then crashed into an earth embankment on the western side of the road, where it came to rest.
First responders attempted lifesaving measures at the scene, but Noti was pronounced dead shortly after their arrival. No other vehicles were involved, and no additional injuries were reported.
The Oneida County Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by Central Oneida County Volunteer Ambulance Corps, the Clinton Fire Department, and Clinton Collision.
Authorities are still investigating the circumstances that led to the crash. Witnesses with any information are encouraged to contact the Oneida County Sheriff's Office as the investigation continues.
