Centro is rolling out its new "Better Bus Oswego" system service today, Monday (January 26), bringing significant improvements to public transportation in Oswego County, New York.

The initiative, which affects bus routes in Oswego, Fulton, and Mexico, aims to simplify navigation for riders by consolidating and renaming routes while increasing service frequency in key areas. This marks the implementation of changes that have been in development for months.

In Oswego, the most notable improvement is along the Bridge Street corridor, where buses will now run every 45 minutes between SUNY Oswego campus and Walmart, according to Bren Daiss, associate vice president of communications and business planning for Centro. Other locations throughout Oswego will receive service every 90 minutes.

Fulton residents will benefit from buses operating every 80 minutes, increasing weekday trips from 12 to 14.

"Our customers are always asking for increased frequency of buses, and our Better Bus Initiative in Oswego (County) delivers on that request," said Daiss. "We've also simplified routing, which provides a consistent, easy-to-understand network for all users."

The service changes follow extensive public outreach, including hearings held on November 18 and 19, 2025. Centro's Board of Members approved the final schedule changes at their monthly meeting on December 19, 2025, incorporating feedback from riders and community stakeholders.

To help riders adjust to the changes, Centro's Service Development Team will be on buses today and tomorrow (January 26 and 27) to answer questions and distribute new schedules.

Passengers are encouraged to review the updated schedules and route information before traveling. Complete details for the new service are available on Centro's website.
