Young Man Dies After Being Struck By Excavator In Skaneateles Accident

A man in his 20s has died following an industrial accident in Skaneateles, authorities confirmed on Thursday (January 23).

The incident occurred around 10:36 a.m. on Thursday when emergency responders were called to a location on Coon Hill Road in the town of Skaneateles. According to Onondaga County 911 dispatches, the victim was struck in the head by an excavator at the worksite, as reported by Syracuse.com.

First responders transported the injured worker to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse, where he was later pronounced dead. Authorities have not yet released the victim's name pending notification of family members.

The Onondaga County Sheriff's Office is investigating the circumstances that led to the fatal accident. Officials have not provided details about what type of work was being performed at the time of the incident or what specific safety protocols were in place.

Industrial accidents involving heavy machinery like excavators often trigger investigations by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), though no official statement has been made regarding their involvement in this case.
