An investigation is underway after a car crashed into a Circle K gas station in Cicero on Wednesday (January 21). According to Cicero Police Chief Steve Rotunno, the incident occurred around 11:36 a.m. when the driver of a 2015 Chevrolet Traverse accidentally pressed the accelerator instead of the brake while attempting to park. The vehicle surged forward, crashing through a brick wall and glass window, and ended up inside the store.

Three people were struck by the vehicle. Two men, who were near the front of the building, and a woman, who was in the middle of the store, were injured. One man was taken to Upstate University Hospital for a minor wrist injury, while the woman was also hospitalized with injuries to her right wrist and ankle. The second man was treated on the scene for a minor hip injury. The driver, identified as 63-year-old David Petrivelli from Cicero, sustained a minor cut to his finger and was treated at the scene.

As reported by Syracuse.com, no charges have been filed at this time, and the investigation is ongoing. The Cicero Police Department, Town of Cicero Code Enforcement, Onondaga County Water Authority, and NAVAC Ambulance responded to the scene. Initial reports suggested victims were trapped under the car, but police later clarified that this was not the case.

The incident remains under investigation as authorities continue to determine the exact cause of the crash. LocalSYR also reported on the ongoing investigation.
