The Onondaga County Water Authority (OCWA) announced that significant progress has been made on the Cicero water pipe repairs, with completion anticipated by Friday (January 16). As of Tuesday (January 13), four full sections of new pipe have been installed, according to OCWA. The repair process involves dewatering, excavation, removal of existing pipes, and installation of new ones.

Residents in affected areas are urged to continue conserving water. The mandatory water conservation notice has been effective in maintaining reservoir levels to ensure water supply to customers in the towns of Dewitt, Manlius, Pompey, Lenox, Lincoln, and Sullivan, as well as the villages of Canastota, Chittenango, East Syracuse, Fayetteville, Manlius, and Minoa.

The water conservation mandate, which began in late December, remains in place as repairs continue. The ruptured water line has impacted approximately 27,000 customers in Onondaga and Madison counties. The OCWA remains committed to completing the repairs on schedule and restoring full water service to the community.
