The Utica Zoo has announced the opening of a new exhibit featuring two female domestic yaks named Shehariah and Senali. These yaks are located in the Asian Realm section of the zoo, along the boardwalk. The zoo has highlighted that winter is the best time to visit this exhibit since yaks are well-adapted to cold climates similar to Utica's harsh winters.

According to the zoo, Senali and Shehariah have superior, multi-layered coats that trap warmth and keep them insulated, even when covered in snow. Visitors can see the yaks daily from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The zoo shared a sneak peek video of the yaks on social media in late December, which sparked community engagement and guesses about the new species.

The Utica Zoo is open seven days a week, and more information can be found on their website, as reported by the Rome Sentinel.
