An investigation is underway after five people were stabbed during a fight in Armory Square, Syracuse, early on New Year's Day. The altercation occurred around 2 a.m. near the intersection of South Franklin Street and West Jefferson Street. Syracuse police officers, who were already in the area, responded quickly to the scene.
According to Syracuse.com, the first victim, a 25-year-old man, approached officers with a stab wound to his leg, which was bleeding heavily. Officers administered first aid before he was transported to Upstate University Hospital, where he remains in critical but stable condition. A second victim, a 27-year-old man, was found with multiple stab wounds to his upper body and is also hospitalized in stable condition.
Three additional victims later arrived at the hospital with suspicious injuries. These included a 29-year-old with a stab wound to his arm, a 34-year-old with a stab wound to his body, and a 26-year-old with minor injuries. CNY Central reports that police believe the individuals involved in the fight may have inflicted the injuries on one another.
The investigation is still in its early stages, and no weapons have been recovered. Syracuse police are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact their Criminal Investigations Division at (315) 442-5222, referencing case number 26-101153.
