A meeting is scheduled today (December 11) in Oswego to discuss proposed pay increases for several top county officials. The proposal suggests an eight-percent salary increase for County Sheriff Don Hilton, County Clerk Terry Wilbur, and County Treasurer Kevin Gardner in 2026 and 2027, followed by an additional five-percent raise in 2028. County legislators are also expected to receive a three-percent salary increase annually from 2026 through 2028.
The meeting will take place at 2 p.m. in the county legislature chambers on East Bridge Street. According to Oswego County News Now, this marks the ninth consecutive year that county legislators are considering a pay raise.
The proposal, outlined in Local Law No. 9 of 2024, seeks to amend a previous law from 2021. It was unanimously approved by the Oswego County Legislature’s Finance and Personnel Committee, as reported by Oswego County News Now. The decision to hold a public hearing on the matter was made without discussion.
