The Rome Rescue Mission in Rome is reaching out to the community for donations to support over 800 families during the holiday season. The mission is in need of food, unwrapped toys, and monetary contributions to make this possible. Donations are accepted at the mission's location on East Dominick Street from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on weekends.
The mission is specifically requesting items like hams, baked beans, pasta, sauce, canned vegetables, and potatoes. Additionally, they need turkeys, stuffing, jarred gravy, dinner rolls, coffee, hot cocoa, and desserts. These donations will help provide a traditional holiday meal and offer hope to those in need.
According to WKTV, the mission will host its annual Christmas Day meal at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 25, following a prayer service. They will also be open on Christmas Eve, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Meal deliveries will occur on December 24 at various locations, including Colonial I, Colonial II, and Madison Plaza.
Executive Director Lisa Patierno expressed gratitude for the community's support, stating, "Because of you, we are able to meet the needs in our community." The mission aims to not only address immediate needs but also provide life-transforming services that can lead to stability and self-sufficiency.
