Nominations are now open for the Grand Marshal of Utica's 2026 Saint Patrick's Day Parade. Organizers are inviting community members to nominate someone who embodies the Irish spirit and contributes to the Central New York community. Nominations can be submitted through the parade's official website until December 31, 2025.
The Saint Patrick's Day Parade, a longstanding tradition in Utica, draws over 30,000 spectators and features more than 5,000 marchers. The parade will take place on Saturday, March 14, 2026, starting at 10 a.m. from Oneida Square and proceeding north on Genesee Street.
The role of Grand Marshal is an honorary position that recognizes an individual's contributions to the Irish community. Last year, Thomas Douglas Powers, Jr., a lifelong Utica resident and community leader, was honored as Grand Marshal. Powers, known for his dedication to Irish culture and community service, led the parade in 2025.
For those interested in nominating someone, the official nomination form is available online. The parade committee encourages nominations of individuals who have made significant contributions to the community and exemplify the spirit of the Irish heritage.
