Lane closures are set to begin today (December 1) in Syracuse as part of the Interstate 81 Viaduct Project. The New York State Department of Transportation (DOT) announced that Teall Avenue will be reduced to one lane northbound between Canal Street and the on-ramp to I-690 westbound. This closure will remain in effect until December 24 to facilitate the installation of noise wall foundations.
The DOT advises drivers to exercise caution and adhere to all traffic control devices while traveling through the work zone. Construction activities are weather-dependent and may change based on conditions. Additionally, motorists should be aware that fines are doubled for speeding in work zones, and multiple speeding violations could lead to the suspension of a driver's license, according to the New York State DOT.
The lane closures are part of ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure and reduce noise pollution in the area. For the latest road conditions and updates, drivers can visit 511NY.org or use the 511NY mobile app.
