An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of a fire that severely damaged Cheap Seats Bar and Grille in Oswego. Firefighters responded to an alarm at 3:10 a.m. on Sunday (November 30) and discovered smoke and flames at the rear of the building. Crews battled the blaze for nearly three hours before bringing it under control around 6 a.m.
The fire caused significant interior damage, and one firefighter sustained a minor injury. According to Syracuse.com, the building was empty at the time of the fire. Fire Chief Paul Conzone praised the efforts of his team and mutual aid partners, including the Oswego Town VFD, Minetto VFD, and the Fulton Fire Department, who assisted in managing the challenging conditions.
The Oswego Fire Department received additional support from the Oswego Police Department, National Grid, and other local agencies. Roads in the area were closed for about two hours during the operation but have since reopened.
The cause of the fire remains undetermined as the City of Oswego Fire Investigation Team continues its work. The restaurant will remain closed until further notice as the investigation proceeds.
