Drivers in Syracuse should anticipate delays today as Interstate 690 eastbound is reduced to one lane. The New York State Department of Transportation announced the lane reduction between the Interstate 81 southbound on-ramp and Exit 14 (Teall Avenue) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The closure is part of ongoing work for the Interstate 81 Viaduct Project, focusing on paving and pavement markings.
The construction activities are weather-dependent and may change based on conditions. Motorists are advised to slow down and drive carefully in the work zone, as fines for speeding are doubled. Multiple speeding violations in a work zone could lead to a driver's license suspension.
The lane reduction is expected to cause significant delays, and drivers are encouraged to plan for extra travel time. The New York State Department of Transportation reminds motorists to pay attention to all traffic control devices, including signs and flaggers.
For more updates on the project, drivers can follow the I-81 Viaduct Project on social media or visit the official website.
