Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon announced that a deal has been reached with Azalia King, a 91-year-old woman from Clay who faced eviction from her home. The agreement was made to facilitate the construction of a Micron Technology campus at White Pine Commerce Park. Although the specific terms of the deal remain undisclosed until all documents are signed, the county expects the Onondaga County Industrial Development Agency (OCIDA) to approve it in December.

Azalia King and her late husband sold their land to OCIDA in 2005 under the threat of eminent domain, with an agreement allowing them to remain in their home for life. However, the county recently initiated eviction proceedings, prompting King to file a lawsuit. The county's actions were part of efforts to clear the land for Micron's semiconductor facility, which is expected to become the largest private development in New York state history.

The deal's announcement follows a public hearing where 150 people supported King, opposing her eviction. McMahon expressed gratitude to the King family and the teams involved in reaching the agreement.

The county will continue eminent domain proceedings against other landowners for necessary infrastructure related to the Micron project. Construction is expected to start by the end of the year, with the first fabrication facility slated for mid-2026.
