After months of anticipation, IKEA has officially opened its doors at Destiny USA in Syracuse, marking the arrival of Upstate New York's first IKEA store. The grand opening took place on Friday (November 21), beginning with games and giveaways at 8 a.m., followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9:45 a.m. The store, located at 9090 Destiny USA Drive, occupies the space previously held by the At Home store and spans 90,000 square feet.

The new IKEA store offers more than 5,500 items on display, with an additional 3,000 products available for immediate purchase and takeaway. Customers can explore 12 designed showrooms, showcasing a variety of home furnishings and decor. Unlike larger IKEA locations, the Syracuse store does not have a warehouse section but provides a central planning area for designing kitchens, bathrooms, and bedrooms.

John Spence, the Unit Manager at IKEA Syracuse, expressed excitement about bringing the iconic Swedish shopping experience to Central New York. "Whether you're looking to furnish your first apartment, upgrade your kitchen, or simply enjoy some Swedish meatballs, we can't wait to welcome you to the IKEA family," he said, according to IKEA's newsroom.

The store also features a cafe offering Swedish specialties like meatballs and cinnamon rolls. The opening of IKEA at Destiny USA is a significant addition to the shopping center, enhancing its reputation as a premier destination for shopping, dining, and entertainment in the region. Stephen Congel, CEO of Pyramid Management Group, noted the importance of this opening, stating, "Welcoming this iconic and globally recognized brand marks one of the most significant milestones in our company’s history," as reported by Destiny USA's press release.

Regular store hours will be Monday to Thursday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Syracuse location joins the other two IKEA stores in New York State, located on Long Island and in Brooklyn.
