Man in His 60s Found Dead After Camillus House Fire

A man in his 60s was found dead following a house fire in Camillus on Wednesday (November 19). Firefighters responded to the scene at 197 Mason Drive around 3:06 p.m. after reports of heavy smoke and a person inside the home. According to Camillus Police Chief Michael Schreyer, the fire was contained to the first floor and was quickly extinguished, resulting in minimal damage to the home.

The homeowner was discovered deceased in the living room, and he was the only person present during the fire. Authorities have not yet released his name, allowing the family time to process the loss. The cause of the fire remains undetermined, and the investigation is ongoing.

Multiple agencies, including the Fairmount Fire Department, Camillus police, and Onondaga County fire investigators, responded to the scene. Mason Drive was temporarily closed between Terrace Drive and Skyview Tier for over an hour as the investigation continued.

Syracuse.com and LocalSYR reported that the cause of death has not yet been determined. The story will be updated as more information becomes available.
