Syracuse University's men's basketball team will see the return of star player JJ Starling for their upcoming game against Monmouth on Tuesday (November 18). According to a spokesperson for the team, Starling will be available to play after recovering from an injury sustained in the first few minutes of the season opener. Last season, the senior guard averaged nearly 18 points per game, making him a key player for the team.
In Starling's absence, Kiyan Anthony, son of former NBA star Carmelo Anthony, has been filling in as point guard. Anthony has performed impressively, averaging 17 points, three rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game in his first three appearances. Coach Adrian Autry will need to decide how to allocate playing time between Starling and Anthony moving forward.
The Orange will, however, be without reserve player Tyler Betsey, who was injured on Saturday. The game against Monmouth is set to tip off at 9 p.m. at the Dome in Syracuse, New York.
