he Syracuse City School District has introduced a new two-hour delay schedule in preparation for the upcoming winter weather. If a delay is necessary, students from kindergarten through eighth grade will report to school two hours later than their usual start time. Their bus schedules will also be adjusted to run two hours later to ensure safe transportation.

For high school students, the district has decided that they will attend classes virtually during a two-hour delay. However, students attending Elmcrest and McCarthy at Beard, including those in grades nine through twelve, will report to school in person two hours late instead of attending virtually.

The district's new delay model aims to maintain instructional continuity and reduce the impact on parents with 9-to-5 jobs. It also helps keep adolescent drivers off the roads and reduces overall bus traffic during hazardous winter conditions. More details about the new schedule and start times can be found on the district's website.
