IKEA will open its new store at Destiny USA in Syracuse on Friday, November 21. The grand opening will start at 9:45 a.m., with customers allowed to line up as early as 7 a.m. This new location marks IKEA's third store in New York, joining those in Long Island and Brooklyn.
The store, which occupies the former At Home space, spans 70,000 square feet. It will feature over 3,000 products available for immediate purchase and a smaller dining area offering Swedish meatballs and other specialties. According to Democrat & Chronicle, IKEA's CEO and Chief Sustainability Officer, Javier Quiñones, stated, "We’re thrilled to bring the IKEA experience to the community in Central New York."
While the Syracuse store is smaller than traditional IKEA locations, it will still offer a variety of services. Customers can explore fully-furnished room settings, use a central planning area for home design, and purchase items from the As-Is department. Larger items will need to be ordered online for home delivery or in-store pickup.
CNY Central reports that IKEA's arrival comes as Destiny USA faces challenges, with several major retailers having left the mall. Despite these challenges, IKEA aims to become a key destination for shoppers in the area.
The store will operate Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
