Onondaga County has announced that Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) recipients will receive their full benefits for November. According to a Facebook post by the county, benefits will be available on Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) cards between November 9 and November 13. Once loaded, recipients can use the funds immediately.
However, new SNAP recipients who began receiving benefits on November 1 may experience a delay in their benefits. The Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance is actively working to release these funds.
The county also noted that a new Senate bill to reopen the federal government includes full funding for the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP). If the government reopens this week, HEAP is expected to start on November 24.
Additionally, officials mentioned ongoing court cases related to SNAP. If states lose these cases, they may owe money to the federal government.
