Off-Duty OCC Security Officer Shot in Syracuse

An off-duty security officer from Onondaga Community College (OCC) was shot outside McAvan's Pub on Fayette Street in Syracuse early Sunday morning (November 9). The officer, whose identity has not been released, was shot in the leg around 1:05 a.m., according to Syracuse police spokesperson Sgt. Thomas Blake. The injuries are not life-threatening, and the officer is currently recovering.

Police have not yet made any arrests and have not disclosed the circumstances leading up to the shooting. Initial reports from the Onondaga County 911 Center indicated that officers were searching for a female suspect, but no further details have been provided.

Roger Mirabito, a spokesperson for OCC, confirmed that the officer is part of the college's campus safety and security department. The Syracuse Police Department has launched a criminal investigation into the incident.

The community remains on alert as police continue their search for the suspect. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact local authorities.
