Syracuse University has provided an update on the injury status of men's basketball star JJ Starling. The senior guard left the game against Binghamton on Monday (November 3) with a lower body injury after playing fewer than three minutes. Starling, who was named to the Atlantic Coast Conference's (ACC) second-team during preseason awards voting, is currently receiving treatment and is considered day-to-day.
During the game at the JMA Wireless Dome, Starling limped off the court with 17:16 remaining in the first half. He was visibly in pain as the medical staff attended to him. He later returned to the bench with his right thigh wrapped and appeared to be holding his hamstring. According to Syracuse.com, Pete Moore, SU's director of athletic communications, stated that Starling was unlikely to return to the game.
Starling, who was Syracuse's leading scorer last season with an average of 17.8 points per game, is a key player for the team. His status remains uncertain for the upcoming game against Delaware State on Saturday (November 8) at the JMA Wireless Dome.
