New details have emerged about the shooting incident at SUNY Morrisville. The New York State Police, in collaboration with University Police and the Madison County Sheriff's Office, are investigating the shooting that occurred inside South Hall dormitory on Monday (November 3). The incident stemmed from a dispute between two individuals who knew each other.

A 20-year-old man, who is not a student at SUNY Morrisville, sustained a gunshot wound to the neck and was transported to Upstate University Hospital. His injuries are not life-threatening, and he is expected to recover. According to New York State Police, there are no additional victims, and no ongoing threat to the campus community has been identified.

The campus was briefly placed under lockdown, but the shelter-in-place order was lifted Monday night, except for South and Onondaga Hall. Additional security measures have been implemented, including an increased police presence to ensure the safety of students, faculty, and staff.

The investigation remains active, with no arrests made so far. Law enforcement continues to process the scene and search nearby areas. Governor Kathy Hochul has been briefed on the situation, and the campus is returning to normal operations as students resume classes.
