Motorists traveling on Interstate 481 in DeWitt should prepare for delays as lane closures will be in effect. According to the New York State Department of Transportation, the southbound lanes of I-481 will be reduced to one lane between Exit 86 and the State Route Five on-ramp. This closure will be in place from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. until Monday (November 10).

The lane reduction is part of ongoing construction work related to the Interstate 81 Viaduct Project, which involves paving operations and the installation of overhead sign structures. The project aims to improve the overall infrastructure and safety of the area.

The New York State Department of Transportation advises drivers to slow down and exercise caution in work zones, noting that fines are doubled for speeding violations. Additionally, multiple speeding convictions in work zones could result in the suspension of a driver's license.

Construction schedules are weather-dependent and may change based on conditions. For the latest updates, travelers are encouraged to visit the Department of Transportation's website or call 511 for real-time traffic information.
