The Syracuse men's basketball team kicked off their season with a commanding victory over the Binghamton Bearcats, winning 85-47 at the JMA Wireless Dome on Monday night (November 3). Sophomore Donnie Freeman led the Orange with 20 points, while Kiyan Anthony, son of former Syracuse star Carmelo Anthony, added 15 points in his college debut. William Kyle III, a transfer from UCLA, contributed 16 points, five assists, and a block in his first start for Syracuse.
The Orange began the game with a strong 10-0 run and maintained their dominance throughout. Binghamton's Demetrius Lilley managed a double-double with 17 points and 13 rebounds, but it wasn't enough to overcome Syracuse's aggressive play. The Orange forced 22 turnovers and recorded 11 steals, with Naithan George accounting for five of them. Syracuse capitalized on these mistakes, scoring 24 points off turnovers.
According to ESPN, Syracuse's defense was a key factor in their victory, limiting Binghamton's scoring opportunities. The Orange are now 6-0 all-time against the Bearcats. Syracuse will look to continue their winning streak when they face Delaware State at home on Saturday (November 8).
