With temperatures expected to drop in the coming weeks, the Syracuse Department of Public Works (DPW) is initiating an overnight shift to manage leaf collection and street cleaning. The move aims to ensure that streets are clear of leaves before snow arrives, preventing potential flooding and facilitating efficient snow removal operations.
The DPW crews will be working both day and night throughout November to expedite the leaf pickup process. Residents are encouraged to take advantage of the city's wasteyard on Canal Street Extension, where they can drop off brush, branches, and leaves.
By proactively addressing leaf collection, Syracuse hopes to maintain clear streets and avoid complications during the winter months. The overnight shift is part of a broader effort to keep the city clean and safe as colder weather sets in.
