A planned road closure on State Route 31 in Clay has been delayed. Originally scheduled to begin on Sunday (November 2), the closure will now start on Wednesday (November 5) at noon. The road will remain closed until November 12 at 5 p.m. to allow for repairs to the CSX railroad crossing between Henry Clay Boulevard and Caughdenoy Road.
The New York State Department of Transportation has announced that during the closure, detours will be in place to assist drivers. Westbound drivers will be directed north on Caughdenoy Road, west on Verplank Road, and south on Henry Clay Boulevard back to State Route 31. Eastbound drivers should follow the reverse route.
Drivers are reminded to exercise caution and drive responsibly in work zones. Fines for speeding in these areas are doubled, and multiple violations could lead to a suspended driver's license.
