Residents of Clay should prepare for a road closure on State Route 31 beginning Sunday (November 2). The closure will occur at the CSX railroad crossing between Henry Clay Boulevard and Caughdenoy Road and will last until 5 p.m. on Sunday, November 9. The New York State Department of Transportation announced that the closure is necessary to repair train tracks at the crossing.

Drivers are advised to follow detour routes. Westbound traffic will be redirected north on Caughdenoy Road, west on Verplank Road, and south on Henry Clay Boulevard back to State Route 31. Eastbound drivers should take Henry Clay Boulevard north, Verplank Road east, and Caughdenoy Road south to rejoin State Route 31.

As reported by WSYR-TV, fines are doubled for speeding in work zones, and multiple violations could result in a suspended driver's license.

According to Yahoo News, the repairs are part of ongoing efforts to improve railroad crossings in the area. CSX has recently repaired other crossings in Clay, including one on Henry Clay Boulevard.

The public is encouraged to avoid the closure area if possible and to plan for potential delays.
