The first weekend of early voting in Onondaga County concluded with over 3,000 residents casting their ballots. According to the Onondaga County Board of Elections, more than 1,900 people voted on the first day, marking a 19% increase compared to the last local election year in 2023. Voters can continue to cast their ballots at any of the ten polling locations until early voting ends on Sunday, November 2, ahead of Election Day on Tuesday, November 4.

Among the polling locations, DeWitt Town Hall saw the highest turnout, with 428 voters, followed by Camillus Fire Department and Armond Magnarelli Community Center. The early voting period allows voters to cast ballots at any location, regardless of their residence, and poll workers can print the appropriate ballot for each voter.

This election season features several significant races, including the open seat for Syracuse mayor, as Ben Walsh concludes his second term. Four candidates are vying for the position: Democrat Sharon Owens, Republican Thomas Babilon, and independents Alfonso Davis and Tim Rudd. Other races include all 17 Onondaga County legislative seats, town supervisor races, and four open seats in the State Supreme Court's 5th Judicial District.

In addition to the local elections, voters will decide on a measure to set term limits for Onondaga County legislators and a statewide proposition to build an Olympic sports complex in the Adirondacks.
