Syracuse Businesses Warned About Invoice Scam

Syracuse, N.Y. - Syracuse Police and the city's Department of Neighborhood and Business Development warning businesses in the City of Syracuse about a zoning invoice scam

They say fake bills are being sent to businesses instructing them to pay for an approval fee, submission fee, environmental impact fee and final review fee by a wire transfer.

This has happened to multiple businesses across the City over the past couple of months. Authorities remind businesses that the City of Syracuse will NEVER ask a business to wire transfer money for a zoning invoice.

If you have questions about City zoning fees, or receive an invoice in the mail, please contact the City of Syracuse Division of Code Enforcement at (315) 442-8695 to ensure the invoice is legitimate.

Anyone who may have any information about this scam should contact the Criminal Investigations Division at (315) 442-5222.
