Utica Man Faces Court for Assault and Property Damage

A Utica man, Cesin O. Hechavarria, is scheduled to appear in court today (October 22) in Trenton, New York, following his arrest on multiple charges. The 39-year-old was taken into custody after an incident on Saturday (October 18), where he allegedly assaulted a person and caused property damage.

According to the New York State Police, Hechavarria arrived at a residence on Church Road in Trenton on a bicycle, carrying a gasoline container. He allegedly poured gasoline on two vehicles and a person, whom he then threatened and attacked using a stick, paver bricks, and a metal shovel. The victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at Wynn Hospital.

Hechavarria faces several charges, including third-degree burglary, two counts of second-degree criminal mischief, second-degree assault, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, second-degree menacing, and second-degree reckless endangerment. All charges range from felonies to misdemeanors. He is currently held in the Oneida County Jail.

The New York State Police, assisted by the Oneida County Sheriff's Office, responded to the scene and conducted the arrest. Hechavarria was remanded following his arraignment and is expected to face legal proceedings today.
