Larry Hartig, a 73-year-old resident of Onondaga has claimed his $17 million lottery prize nearly three months after winning the New York Lotto drawing on July 23. Hartig matched all six winning numbers: 6, 8, 22, 29, 37, and 50. He purchased the lucky ticket at Polge Wine and Liquors on West Seneca Turnpike in Syracuse.

Hartig decided to take the lump sum payment option, which means he will receive over $5.7 million after required withholdings. According to Syracuse.com, Hartig had previously given up on the lottery, considering himself unlucky. However, his recent win has changed his perspective.

The ticket was sold at a location south of downtown Syracuse, making it a significant win for the area. State Lottery officials confirmed the claim on Tuesday (October 21), marking a joyous occasion for Hartig and his community.
