The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) has announced lane closures on Interstate 690 eastbound in Geddes, Onondaga County, starting today (October 22). The highway will be reduced to one lane between Exit 10 (NY 695/Lakeland/Auburn) and Exit 11 (NY 297/Fairgrounds/Solvay) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays. This is to facilitate bridge work in the area, which is expected to continue through November 5.

Motorists are advised to exercise caution when driving through the work zone and to adhere to traffic control devices, including signs and flaggers. According to WSYR-TV, construction activities are dependent on weather conditions and may change accordingly.

Drivers should also be aware that fines are doubled for speeding in work zones, and receiving two or more speeding violations in such zones could result in the suspension of a driver's license. For the latest updates on road conditions, visit 511NY.org or use the 511NY mobile app.
