In Syracuse, David Huff, accused of killing his 11-year-old son, Jeremiah Huff, and his girlfriend, Yeraldith Tschudy, has been offered a plea deal. Prosecutors proposed that Huff plead guilty to two counts of second-degree murder, which would result in two consecutive sentences of 20 years to life in prison. If Huff rejects the plea and is convicted at trial, he could face life imprisonment without parole.
The tragic incident occurred in March at Huff's stepfather's home on Roney Road. Huff allegedly used a Remington 870 Express 12-gauge shotgun to commit the murders. According to CNY Central, Huff also faces a first-degree murder charge for each death, along with a charge of criminal possession of a weapon. A grand jury indicted him on an attempted murder charge for allegedly pointing the shotgun at his stepfather.
The case has drawn significant attention due to the nature of the crime and the impact on the victims' families. Jeremiah's mother, Samantha Gallup Peltier, shared memories of her son, saying, "He loved to skateboard, fish, and snuggle on the couch." Tschudy's brother, Miguel Angel Rivera Rios, described her as "a wonderful human" who was passionate about protecting children.
Huff's next court appearance is scheduled for November 13. Authorities continue to investigate, and anyone with information is urged to contact Syracuse Police at (315) 442-5222.
