The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) has announced a temporary closure of the Interstate 481 northbound off-ramp to Exit 9N (I-81 North/Watertown) in Cicero, New York. The closure will occur from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. on weeknights, starting Tuesday (October 21) through Thursday (October 23). This closure is part of ongoing construction for the I-81 Viaduct Project.
Motorists are advised to follow the posted detour, which directs traffic to Exit 95 (Northern Boulevard), then south on Northern Boulevard, west on East Taft Road, and back to I-81 northbound. According to CNY Central, the construction activities are weather-dependent and subject to change.
Drivers are reminded to exercise caution and reduce speed in work zones, as fines are doubled for speeding. Multiple violations could lead to a suspended driver's license. The NYSDOT encourages motorists to stay informed about traffic updates by calling 511 or visiting 511NY.org.
