The Oswego County Health Department will begin offering flu vaccinations on Friday (October 3) at the Nick Sterio Public Health Clinic in Oswego. Clinics will operate every Monday and Friday from 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. by appointment only.

According to Oswego County Director of Public Health Vera Dunsmoor, getting vaccinated early provides the best protection against the flu. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends flu vaccines for everyone aged six months and older. Seniors over 65 should opt for the high-dose vaccine, which contains four times the antigen of standard vaccines.

The flu shot costs between $44 and $92, depending on the type, and is covered by most insurance plans. The COVID-19 vaccine will also be available for those aged six months and older.

To schedule an appointment, call 315-349-3457 between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. The clinic is located at 70 Bunner St. in Oswego. The health department accepts various insurance plans, including Medicaid and Medicare. No one will be turned away due to inability to pay.
