Details Emerge in Salina Fatal Shooting Case

More information has been released regarding a fatal shooting that occurred in Salina over the weekend. On Sunday (September 28), Alec Grieger, 30, attempted to shoplift two canisters of nitrous oxide from the Mattydale Express store. When confronted by the store owner, Emad Alharbi, Grieger shot him multiple times. Alharbi, 31, was transported to Upstate University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to the Onondaga County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities tracked Grieger to a residence on Mitchell Avenue, where they attempted to negotiate his peaceful surrender. However, Grieger died by suicide before he could be taken into custody, as reported by Syracuse.com.
