Syracuse University quarterback Steve Angeli expressed gratitude to fans for their support after undergoing surgery to repair a torn Achilles tendon. Angeli sustained the injury during Syracuse's victory over Clemson on Saturday (September 20). He will miss the remainder of the season, as confirmed by ESPN.

Before his injury, Angeli had an impressive start to the season, ranking second in the nation with 1,316 passing yards. The junior quarterback transferred from Notre Dame and quickly became a key player for Syracuse. His performance against Clemson included 244 passing yards and two touchdowns before he exited the game in the third quarter.

In an Instagram post, Angeli expressed optimism about his recovery, stating, "No matter how many times I get knocked down, I'll get right back up." He also shared his appreciation for the journey ahead.

Rickie Collins, an LSU transfer, will step in as Syracuse's starting quarterback. Collins played in the second half against Clemson, completing three of eight passes for 34 yards and a touchdown. His first start will be against Duke University this weekend.

Angeli's injury is part of a broader trend of quarterback injuries across college football, with other players like Florida State's Tommy Castellanos also sidelined recently, according to CBS Sports.
